TRAINING REGISTRATION

The Symmetry Training department offers different levels of in-depth training of the Symmetry Security Management System in order to meet your systems knowledge requirements. We welcome you to join us for Symmetry training courses held in our of our U.S. based corporate offices. Additional, training is conducted in the Tewkesbury, United Kingdom facility. Training is provided for Authorized Dealers, Consultants and Symmetry End Users (sponsored by an Authorized Dealer).


When attending a class in our Training Center facility, all the equipment and materials needed to complete the training course will be provided. Before a class registration can be confirmed, a PO for the cost of training from an Authorized Dealers or Reseller needs to be submitted to AMAG (credit cards are also accepted) NOTE: We cannot accept payments directly from an End User of the system.

Symmetry Advanced v9


Successful completion of the Advanced course qualifies resellers for priority support, proactive technical bulletins and additional program benefits.




End User System Manager


Features and capabilities of the Symmetry Access System, including configuration, basic administration, maintenance and troubleshooting.




End User System Operator


Focused on introducing end users to the latest version of Symmetry and provides them with hands-on instruction of the day-to-day tasks of operating the system

M4000 Introductory course


This is an on-line training course designed to provide basic information regarding the M4000's technology, architecture and concepts. This online course will provide an overview of how the M4000 connects to the Symmetry Access Control Systems and requirements needed to successfully connect and deploy these door controllers.




Symmetry Door Controllers Hardware Basics course


This on-line course is to familiarize the technician/engineer with the Symmetry Door Controllers hardware (M4000, M2150 & EN-Series) This course will review the IP Addressing, Hardware Addressing, basic wiring and ports settings. This course provides the basic requirements needed to connect the Hardware to the Symmetry Access Control System.




M4000 Programming course


This on-line course provides basic information to program the M4000 through the Web-interface in order to configure the door controller hardware, backing up and uploading the XML script files as required to deploy the M4000 door controllers and the associated readers and I/O devices.




M4000 Fundamentals course


This 1-day instructor-led course provides hands-on M4000 hardware training including wiring, programing and troubleshooting and is offered prior to a Symmetry Essentials course.

Successful completion of the Symmetry Essentials Certification training course allows resellers technical support and technical bulletins amongst other benefits

TRAINING RECERTIFICATION

AMAG Recertification Program is designed to assist the Symmetry Certified Technician in maintaining and updating their Certification. We offer two methods for maintaining your certification, both of which are web-based re-certification courses. We have an On-Demand Re-certification, the benefit of taking this the on-demand course is you can complete the course at your convenience, then we have a Live Instructor Webinar, please see the training calendar for the next schedules webinar and registration details.

 

ON-SITE TRAINING

In an effort to accommodate customers that would like to certify as many of their technicians as possible, you may request training at your location.

This request for on-site training can also assist with meeting the needs of End Users (System Administrators or Operators) by providing training at their facility. With on-site training we are able to customize the course to meet the specific needs of your customer’s organization.

WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR INTEGRATORS?


All integrators must maintain a minimum of (2) “Symmetry Associate” level certified technicians. It is recommended that training be initiated at the time of sign up by utilizing the integrator “starter kit”. This kit is available as a line item unit via the price book.




WHAT TRAINING COURSES ARE AVAILABLE FOR INTEGRATORS FOR CERTIFICATION?


Currently we have a Symmetry Essentials, and a Symmetry Advanced Course that our offered at the Torrance and D.C. (US) locations. Symmetry Essentials Is also currently available in our Tewkesbury UK location.




WHAT ADDITIONAL INTEGRATOR TRAINING IS AVAILABLE?


We currently offer the following instructor Led course (1) Hardware Course, (2) Video Management Course and a (3) Symmetry Starters Course (Access Control Basic). In addition to these courses we offer free of charge training videos and on-demand training courses that are designed to re-enforce our instructors led courses. HOW MUCH DOES TRAINING COST?


The fee for the Training class varies between our different course offerings. Our training fees are in the AMAG price list on the Partners Portal. We do not offer direct pricing to End Users. They must request a price from their AMAG Reseller.




WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES TO ATTENDING A CLASS?


For attending the Essentials Certification Class, all students must complete the Symmetry Overview and Basic Hardware On-demand course. For all integrators (only) we require completing an Access Control proficiency exam to demonstrate their knowledge of an Access Control System. If they are new to Access Control, they may enroll in our Access Control Starters Course. End User are not required to complete the proficiency exam or complete the Starter course.




WHAT TIME DOES THE CLASS START?


In all locations the standard start time of each class is 8:30 AM. This is subject to the request by companies hosting an On-site Training session. We make every attempt to end class each day by 4:00 pm.




HOW DO I GET “CERTIFIED”?


Initial certification occurs with the successful completion of the Symmetry Essentials classroom based training. Addition information about this course can be found under the Symmetry Course page. The Calendar is on the main training web page.




HOW DO I RECEIVE MY CERTIFICATE?


We currently offer each student that successfully completes a Training course, the ability to download or print their certificate on-line from the Learning Management Site (LMS). Once issued a certificate by your instructor, the certificate will be available from the student’s profile on the LMS. Certificates can also be requested by contacting the AMAG Training Department.




HOW DO I ENROLL OR REGISTER TO ATTEND A TRAINING COURSE?

CAN I GET CERTIFIED WITHOUT COMING TO A TRAINING CENTER?


Yes, we provide on-site certification training for your company. We do not currently offer an eLearning or on-demand course for initial Symmetry Certification.




WHAT CERTIFICATION LEVELS EXIST?


There are currently two certification levels for Symmetry training paths:

  • Symmetry Associate: Successful completion of the Essentials course, qualifying for technical support.
  • Symmetry Professional: Successful completion of the Essentials course + the Advanced, qualifying for priority technical support and program benefits.
  • End User Qualified: Successful completion of the Essentials course, sponsored End Users with valid SSA qualify for technical support (excluding hardware and installer’s default permissions)




WHAT DOES CERTIFICATION IMPACT? (US & Canada)


Certification is required to contact Technical Support, so the training requirements should be prior to taking on projects. Upon contacting technical support, the technician’s certification number will be supplied, and verified to validate completion of the course, and all recertification requirements




WHAT IS “RE-CERTIFICATION”? (US & Canada)


AMAG understands that technical training is an investment, and focuses not only on minimizing Integrator training costs, but also provides a free (re-sellable) system with every student enrollment to assist our partners in offsetting the initial educational costs.




WHEN DO I NEED TO RE-CERTIFY? (US & Canada)


To ensure proper update training, all certification are set to expire after a (1) year time period. To maintain certification, the technician must complete a Symmetry recertification course which will detail product changes and technical information related to servicing and maintaining the Security Management Software.




HOW DO I RE-CERTIFY? (US & Canada)


We offer two methods of re-certification.

  1. An on-demand monthly re-certification course. This course is designed to be self-paced and can be completed when convenient for certified tech.
  2. A live webinar, complete with a final quiz to ensure we meet our learning objectives. This Webinar is offered once a month and the schedule is listed on our Training Calendar.




HOW DO I ENROLL OR REGISTER FOR A RECERTIFICATION COURSE? (US & Canada)


The information needed to enroll or register for either the on-demand or the webinar re-certification courses are also located under Course Registration.




WHAT ABOUT END USERS?


We regularly offer at the Torrance and D.C. locations a Symmetry Operator’s course (2-days) and a Symmetry System Administrator’s Course (3-days). These courses are designed for the End User to assist with the management and daily operation of a Symmetry System.




CAN END USERS ATTEND THE ESSENTIALS COURSE?


End Users can also attend the Symmetry Essentials training course, if they are sponsored by their AMAG Reseller. Upon successful completion of the Essentials course they would then be eligible for Certification.




HOW DOES THE CERTIFICATION OF AN END USER DIFFER FROM THE CERTIFICATION OF THE RESELLER (INTEGRATOR)?


End User that are certified can receive support on any Symmetry Access Software related issue or question, excluding any item the Symmetry System limits to the default Installer’s permission. End User’s must have the support and be sponsored by an AMAG Reseller and their site must have an current SSA in place in order to receive support.




WHAT ABOUT SUBCONTRACTORS?


It is in everyone’s best interest that the subcontractor personnel be highly qualified to meet customer expectations. As such, should training be required for subcontractor companies, AMAG Training simply requests that the purchase order be submitted via the “sponsoring” certified dealer, with information regarding the subcontractor status of the proposed student.




WHAT ABOUT TRAINING AT THE CUSTOMER’S LOCATION?


We can provide on-site training for either the Standard Symmetry Essentials (5-day) or the Systems Administrator (3-day) Courses. We can also customize the Operators to meet the End User special requirements.




HOW DO I REQUEST ONSITE TRAINING?


To request on-site training please complete the On-site Training Request Form. The Training department will contact the person requesting the training to discuss the requirements and provide a quote based on those requirements.




HOW LONG IN ADVANCED SHOULD REQUEST ON-SITE TRAINING?


In most circumstances we require a minimum of 6 weeks lead time prior to schedule an on-site training class.




WHAT DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO PROVIDE TO HOST AN ON-SITE TRAINING CLASS?


In the US and Canada, we provide the laptops and hardware require to conduct a class for up to 12 students. We ask the company hosting the training to provide the facility, adequate room for training and a projector for the class. Access to Internet is also required in most cases. (Note: we do not cater for onsite training classes.)
