AMAG Technology announces the release of Symmetry Access Control software v10.2. Symmetry v10.2 is packed with practical enhancements designed to reduce maintenance time, improve system visibility, and speed up downloads.
The Symmetry SR Controller family is now available with OSDP (Open Supervised Device Protocol) capability and works with Symmetry 10.2.
OSDP is an industry standard for secure, reliable communication between access control panels and readers, and is important for:
- Bidirectional communication between the panel and reader
- Device supervision
- Improved security options such as encrypted communication
Reduce Disruption and Admin Time
Symmetry 10.2 introduces a Server Initiated Client Upgrade capability that helps centralize control and reduce manual effort. It includes:
- Silent installation to minimize user disruption
- A postpone option for logged-in users, so upgrades can be delayed when needed
- Installation files that automatically transfer from the server, reducing manual steps and ensuring clients receive the correct upgrade
IT and security administrators can maintain more consistent client versions with less coordination, while end users benefit from fewer interruptions and a smoother experience.
Optimized Performance
Downloads and synchronizations become a bottleneck when changes stack up across panels, readers, or clients. Symmetry 10.2 speeds download processing up to five times, leveraging parallel processing to send data to five controllers simultaneously.
A new monitoring widget was also added to the System Health Dashboard to improve visibility into activity and performance.
More Control at the Door
Reader sounds and LED color choice guide behavior, provide clarity and support workflows. Symmetry 10.2 offers LED and sound customization when using OSDP standard controllers (Symmetry SR or M2150), giving customers more options to communicate. The configuration supports global reader type and individual reader type settings, providing more granular control.
With 10.2, Symmetry takes advantage of these modern protocol capabilities to give you more flexibility over reader behavior.
