The Witte Museum is San Antonio's premiere museum of natural history, science and South Texas heritage. Located in Brackenridge Park, the Witte offers permanent exhibits that include dinosaur skeletons, cave drawings, wildlife dioramas, and even some live animals. Several historic homes have been reconstructed on the campus, which also features the very popular H-E-B Science Treehouse. Changing galleries include Texas artists, textiles and showcase exhibits, some locally produced and some traveling national exhibits. The Witte also recently opened the South Texas Heritage Center featuring Davy Crockett’s fiddle, Sam Houston’s sash, a Colt revolver, live gallery theater in a river-front amphitheater and more.

The Witte Museum is on a mission to become a world class museum and has launched a major campus expansion that will add more than 65,000 square feet to the campus. The expansion is organized into three phases: South Texas Heritage and Witte Research and Collections phase, New Witte phase and the Water Resources phase. Currently, construction is underway for the new Witte Research and Collections Center which will house the museum’s broad collection of Texas Art. The Witte Museum recently announced plans to transform the H-E-B Science Treehouse into the H-E-B Body Adventure, a state-of-the-art interactive center that will inspire visitors to get up and move, make healthy changes and live a more balanced lifestyle.

The South Texas Heritage Center was recently completed in May 2012 and it included a new security system for its recently renovated buildings and new construction of the South Texas Heritage Center building. The museum fully integrated, open ended solution that could expand as the museum progressed through its phases. AMAG Technology’s Symmetry Enterprise v7.0.1 Security Management System with Symmetry Video Management was a natural fit.

“AMAG’s Symmetry system gave the museum the platform they needed to secure their growing campus,” said TESS, Inc.’s President, Mike Snellgrove, the installing integrator. “Symmetry worked well with their security operations, and integrated with key technology partners to provide a complete system.”
