Symmetry™ 800 Card Readers
Cutting-Edge Readers for the Latest Card Technologies
The Symmetry Series 800 range of readers includes proximity,
smart card and fingerprint readers compatible with the multiNODE range of controllers
and the latest card technologies. All readers are easy to install and are available
in a number of attractive designs.
Series 800 readers are the perfect choice for installation professionals
who require total system security. Unlike traditional Wiegand interface readers,
which are susceptible to undetected tampering, Series 800 readers use bi-directional
pseudo-random supervised communications. This enables alarms to be generated if
the reader or cable is tampered with or communication is lost.
The Series 800 range includes the Symmetry S844, which reads
contactless FIPS 201 PIV smart cards. The Symmetry S844 is designed to comply government
standards and is on the GSA FIPS 201 Approved Products List.
The Symmetry S843, S844 and S853 readers are compatible with
Philips® MIFARE® DESfire smart cards, which could be used not only for access control,
but also for applications such as identity checking, cashless vending and government
applications.
Series 800 readers can be sited long distances from their control
units, making them the ideal choice for installers who require installation flexibility.

In 1995, AMAG was asked to provide smart card-based physical access security systems
for use in the U.S. Navy´s Multi-technology Automated Reader Card (MARC) program
in Hawaii. Since that time, AMAG contact and contactless readers have been installed
in numerous additional government and commercial facilities. AMAG smart card readers
are on display at the U.S. Government Services Administration´s Smart Card Technology
Demonstration Center in Washington D.C.
