AMAG Technology is a leading manufacturer of security management systems for the commercial and government markets. AMAG is part of G4Tec, one of the world’s largest security companies with over 30 years of experience.

G4Tec manufactured its first access control system in the UK in 1970. In 1983, G4Tec launched its first microprocessor, and in 1987 its first DOS-based PC system.

AMAG pioneered magnetic stripe technology in the early 70s, and developed an evolving access control line in the 80s, prompting G4Tec to purchase AMAG –then called American Magnetics in 1990.

AMAG’s vision is to provide intelligent IT networked security management solutions to the commercial and government market place. AMAG’s vision came to fruition when it transformed the US Navy’s security initiatives and implemented a revolutionary smart card solution for the US Navy’s Multi-Technology Automated Reader Card (MARC) program in 1995. The Department of Defense, including the Pentagon and the seven bureaus of the Department of the Interior now secure their premises with a Symmetry Security Management System.
